Tourism object in Palembang

* Sungai Musi | Musi River, about 750 km long river which divides the city into two parts, namely Palembang Seberang Ulu and Ilir other side of this is the longest river in Sumatra. Since the first of the Musi River has become the lifeblood of the economy in the city of Palembang in South Sumatra Province. Along the banks of this river there are many tourist attraction such as the Ampera bridge , Religious Tourism, Museums Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II, Kemaro Island, Market 16 Ilir, Raft home (rumah rakit) , Pertamina's oil refineries, fertilizer plants PUSRI, Bagus Kuning beach , Musi II Bridge , Al Munawar Mosque, etc..
* Jembatan Ampera | Ampera Bridge , a magnificent bridge which crossed over 1177 meters above the Musi River that connects the area Seberang Seberang Ulu and Ilir Palembang is an icon. This bridge was built in 1962 and built using Japanese loot and experts from Japan.


 
* Masjid Agung | Agung Mosque of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II in Palembang, located in the central city of Palembang, this mosque is the largest mosque in South Sumatra with a capacity of 15 000 pilgrims.

* Benteng Kuto Besak | KUTO BESAK FORTRESS , located on the banks of the Musi River and adjacent to the Ampera bridge , Citadel is one of the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam heritage building. Inside the fort there Kodam II Sriwijaya health offices and hospitals. This castle is the only fort in Indonesia and the stone-walled fortifications eligible / defense built its own expense for purposes of defense from attacks by enemies of Europeans and not given the name of European heroes.
* Kantor Walikota | Mayors Office Building , located in the city center, this building originally functioned as a water tower because it serves to drain the water throughout the city so well known as the Office of Plumbing. Today this building serves as the Office of the Mayor of Palembang and there are spotlights on the top of the building that beautify the face of the city at night.

* Kambang Iwak Family Park, a tour of the lake located in the center of town, near the residence of Palembang mayor. On the banks of this lake there are many recreational arena and frequently visited the family on holidays. Besides, in the middle of this lake there are water fountains that looks beautiful at night. * Punti Kayu Forest Tourism , a forest tourist town located about 7 km from the city center with an area of 50 ha and since 1998 designated as protected forests. In this forest there is a family recreation area and a local shelter a group of monkeys.

* Archeological Park of Sriwijaya
, a relic of Sriwijaya site located on the banks of the Musi River.
There is an inscription stone relics of the kingdom in this area.


* BUKIT SIGUNTANG | SIGUNTANG HILL, located in the hills west of Palembang in the era of Sriwijaya. Today, it is treated as a historic hill for Buddhist. This area is located in the Lama Hill. It is 4 kilometres from the city of Palembang and by altitude 27 meters from sea level. This place is still kept sacred because there are several old graves around.In 1920, some people found a statue of Buddha in Amarawati art style with Sri Lanka facial expression. It was made in the 11th century. Today, the statue is placed in the yard of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum. The panorama of Palembang city can be viewed clearly from the top of Siguntang Hill. To get to the top of the hill, we can take the public transportation heading toward Bukit Besar
* Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat | People's Struggle Monument, located in the center of town, adjacent to the Great Mosque and the bridge shall. In accordance with his name in this building there are objects - relics of history in the colonial period.

* Museum Balaputradewa, a museum that holds many objects - relics of Sriwijaya. This museum was built in 1977 with the traditional Palembang architecture. It took an area of 23.565 square meters and was inaugurated on November 5, 1984. At the beginning, it was named “Negeri Sumatera Selatan Province.” In the year of 1990, the government changed it to “Negeri Sumatera Selatan Province-Bala Putra Dewa Museum.” The words “Bala Putra Dewa” came from the name of Sriwijaya’s king who governed the land between 8th and 9th century. He also expanded the land to the Maritim Kingdom. Inside the museum, we can find a lot of collections of Sumatera Selatan’s culture. They include: ethnography objects, ceramics, modern technology, fine arts, flora / fauna, and geology


* Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum, located near the Ampera bridge and Religious Tourism and the former is one of the relics of the Palace of Palembang Darussalam. In it there are many objects - objects historic city of Palembang.

* Museum of Textiles, located on Jl. Merdeka this museum objects - objects of textiles from all regions in South Sumatera Province.
